Foreman and Wolf's New Columbia Restaurant to be a French Bistro

The new Columbia restaurant being opened by well-known Baltimore restaurateurs Tony Foreman and Cindy Wolf will be the duo's second Petit Louis Bistro. It will be a French restaurant overlooking Lake Kittamaqundi.

Foreman and Wolf announced the concept Monday. The original Petit Louis opened in Roland Park in 2000 and has since been hailed by food critics and customers alike.

“Cindy and I are truly excited about the details of the room and being on the lake,” said Foreman, in a statement. “We feel Petit Louis will act as a real center of the community, where neighbors will come to dine as well as celebrate.”

“We have had fantastic support from our regular guests from Howard County in all of our projects. It’s a real pleasure to open a restaurant that Cindy and I love, in this beautiful location,” added Foreman

A spokesperson for Foreman Wolf said they're hoping to open the restaurant by the end of the year, but they haven't confirmed an opening date yet.

The restaurant will feature traditional French bistro cuisine. James Lewandowski will be the executive chef at the new Columbia location, which is called Petit Louis Bistro on the Lake. He has served as the executive chef at Petit Louis in Roland Park and as executive sous chef at Cinghiale, Foreman and Wolf's Italian restaurant in Harbor East.

“Traditional, regional French cooking is James’s first love,” said Wolf, in a statement. “This is the perfect spot for him and we are delighted he will be opening for us.”

Menu items announced on Monday include duck leg confit, mussels  provençale, cassoulet and steak frites. 

“Something wonderful about bistro cooking is its honesty,” said Lewandowski, in a statement. “The freshest ingredients will be brought in daily from the local markets, helping my culinary team execute the dishes authentically and thoughtfully.”

The restaurant will include an outdoor patio as well, according to a spokesperson. The spokesperson said they hope to provide seating for 24 on the patio, but that may change based on what the liquor board decides.

The 6,934 square-foot restaurant will have a private dining and event space as well as a "Comptoir", which Foreman Wolf described as a walk-up space and casual seating area that sells coffee, pastries, sandwiches, soups and salads.

Ashley Roop, who formerly worked as the executive pastry chef at Foreman and Wolf's Charleston, will be the pastry chef at the new Columbia location.

The Columbia location will be the sixth full service restaurant for Foreman and Wolf who also operate Charleston, Petit Louis Bistro in Roland Park, Pazo, Cinghiale and Johnny's.

The new restaurant will fill the space vacated by the Red Pearl near Sushi Sono.
