36 Home Subdivision Proposed Near Covenant Park

A public meeting is scheduled to detail the proposal in February.

Developers are pitching 36 single-family homes for 97 acres of woodland behind Pudding Lane near Centennial Park.

The proposal is being put forth by the property owners Sophie and Jessica Ziegler of San Francisco and the developer is Toll Brothers Inc.

The single-family detached homes would sit on just over an acre of land each. The property is zoned RC-DEO, which allows a maximum of one property per 4.25 acres, but the owners are planning to import density from another property to meet the requirement, according to Julia Boone, the planning and zoning department employee reviewing the proposal.

A pre-submission community meeting is scheduled for Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. at Kahler Hall, 5440 Old Tucker Row, Columbia. Residents are invited to the meeting to learn more about the project and discuss it with the developers.

The area surrounding the property is mostly woodland and farmland. To the north is woods behind Kingsbridge Road, to the south is Clark's Elioak Farm and to the southeast is the Bob Lucido Fields at Covenant Park.

The developer also plans to build two roads to serve the homes. The roads would extend from Pudding Lane, which would be the only entrance to the development, according to the plans.
