John joins Patch after starting in September 2010 as a freelancer for Greater Annapolis Patch and was named editor of the site on Jan. 31, 2011. His life in the news started in 5th grade when he took over his older brother's paper route, which he kept until his senior year of high school. Newspaper writing and editing jobs followed in a nearly 15-year career after obtaining a journalism degree from Pitt.

He was recently the business editor and assistant city editor at The Capital before leaving after four years to take on his most daunting assignment to date–his two young boys. John lives with his family in Hillsmere and spends a lot of time on the trails at Quiet Waters or chicken-necking along the seawall near the Naval Academy Bridge.
