Not-Quite-Record-Setting Warmth: Week Ahead in Weather

This is the week's forecast according to the National Weather Service.

The weekend’s spring-like warm weather will persist through part of this week, according to the National Weather Service (NWS), but it’s not here to stay. Expect fog today until mid-morning, then partly sunny skies with a high temperature near 65 degrees. That’s just five degrees shy of the record high temperature for the day: 70 degrees in 1950 according to NWS. Tonight, temperatures will drop to around 50 degrees.  Tuesday will be partly sunny, with temperatures again reaching the mid-60s. This time, however, the high temperature won’t come close to the record set on this day - in 1998 - of 76 degrees. Temperatures should drop to about 50 degrees again Tuesday night, and there’s a chance of rain after 1 a.m. The chance of rain continues …

It's a Tie! Hottest June 21 on Record

We haven't seen temperatures this high for nearly 90 years.

Forget the "heat index," or the "humidity." The regular old mercury-thermometer-temperature outside is set to hit 100 degrees.  How do you beat the heat? Popsicles? Ice cream? Swimming? Or are you one of the few who revels in it? Let us know in the comments! The normal daily high temperature on this day of the year is 85 degrees, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). The record high is 100 degrees, set in 1923.  With the heat index -- a measure of temperature that includes humidity to more accurately predict how hot it feels -- today's temperature will reach about 105 degrees. That's cause for caution. NWS has issued a heat advisory and is warning everyone to look out for heat-related illnesses -- not just senstive groups. If …
