Three to Shock Trauma After Truck Flips Over on I-70

In all, six people were taken to the hospital.

Three people were taken to Shock Trauma Wednesday morning after a box truck overturned in Howard County, according to a spokesperson for the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services. Firefighters and paramedics reported to eastbound Interstate 70 near Marriottsville Road in West Friendship at about 8:15 a.m., according to Jacqueline Cutler. They found a person trapped inside a box truck that had overturned and was on the median, Cutler said.  On the eastbound right shoulder, there was a passenger vehicle that had been involved in the incident, according to Cutler. Glenelg Teen Seriously Injured after Collision

The 18-year-old crashed a Cadillac Escalade into a tree on Triadelphia Mill Road early Friday, according to police.

  An 18-year-old Glenelg man is in serious condition after colliding with a tree in a Cadillac Escalade on Triadelphia Mill Road early Friday morning, according to police. Police said Zachary Jacob Hanlon was traveling southeast on Triadelphia Mill Road near Michele Drive around 2:30 a.m. when the 2008 Cadillac Escalade he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree. Hanlon was ejected from the vehicle in the collision, said police. Hanlon was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in critical condition. Police determined Hanlon was not wearing a seatbelt and that excessive speed was a factor in the collision.

Teenager in Mt. Hebron Collision Remains Critical

Patch readers say the Mt. Hebron lot -- and all high school lots -- can be dangerous.

The 18-year-old driver in last week’s collision near an Ellicott City high school remains in critical condition Monday, according to a spokesperson at University of Maryland’s Shock Trauma Center. Jeffrey Conner Sinclair was leaving a Mt. Hebron parking lot after shcool on Thursday, Jan. 3, with four passengers in a Honda Civic. Police say Sinclair drove onto Route 99 in front of a Mack truck.  The collision, police said, may have been a result of Sinclair’s failure to stop at a stop sign. The four passengers with him were all treated at Howard County General Hospital and released; a helicopter flew Sinclair to Shock Trauma, where he has remained in critical condition for three days. Legally the driver may be at fault, I was not there but that is one issue. The exit is unsafe or another exit which is clearly safer is restricted and the inexperienced driver does not have access is another issue.   more ›

Two Killed in Sunday's Fatal Collision, 8-Year-Old Seriously Injured

More information about the deadly collision was released Tuesday by state police.

  Maryland State police have released more information Tuesday on the fatal crash Sunday officials originally said killed one woman and seriously injured a child. Officials said Tuesday that two people were killed in the accident early Sunday morning on Interstate 95 North near Waterloo Road in Columbia after a three-car collision. On Monday, a state police spokesperson told Patch there was one confirmed fatality: Sadia Soto, 31, of Arlington VA., was killed after being trapped in a Toyota 4Runner that was engulfed in flames. UPDATED: One Dead in Sunday Collision, Child Seriously Injured

Maryland State police said a woman was killed after her vehicle was engulfed by flames.

  Update - Oct. 8 - 10:15 a.m. Monday One woman was killed and a young child was seriously injured after a 3-car accident in which the woman's car was engulfed in flames early Sunday morning on Interstate 95 near Waterloo Road in Columbia, according to the Maryland State Police. Sadia Soto was killed in the accident, according to police. Soto's age and hometown were not released by police. State police spokesperson Sgt. Marc Black said Soto was pulling a trailer with a 1997 Toyota 4Runner on I-95 when the trailer became disengaged. Soto pulled over and attempted make repairs on the trailer. Head-On Collision in Highland Sends Two to Shock Trauma

Howard County Police are investigating a collision that occurred around 3 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of the Clarksville Pike and Briaridge Court in Highland, that sent two people to Shock Trauma. The driver of a 2011 Chevrolet Aveo crossed the double yellow lines and collided head-on with a 1999 GMC Yukon carrying one occupant, according to a press release from the Howard County Police Department. Preliminary investigation shows the Chevrolet driver's "failure to drive right of center" was the primary cause of the collision, according to police. Both drivers were transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma by Maryland State Police Medevac and are listed in "stable" condition, according to HCPD. Police will not release the …

Two, Including Officer, Hospitalized After Collision

A police officer was taken to Shock Trauma and Woodstock man to Howard County Hospital, after an Ellicott City collision.

Howard County Police are investigating an accident involving a police cruiser that sent two people to the hospital earlier this week. According to a statement sent by police, at about 10:30 p.m. on Monday a marked police 2012 Dodge Charger was driving on Baltimore National Pike westbound near Martiottsville Road. Traveling westbound on the same road, according to police, was a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe. The driver of the Hyundai tried to make a left turn onto Marriottsville Road, according to police, but did not yield right of way and crashed into the police car, which had a green light. Sgt. Two in Serious Condition After Lisbon Collision

Two people were sent to shock trauma after car hit a tree and telephone pole.

Two people were sent to Shock Trauma Wednesday night after a single-car collision in Lisbon, according to Howard County Police. At about 10:18 last night, a teenage male was driving eastbound on Frederick Road near Bahner Court at “a high rate of speed,” according to police, when his 2011 Honda Accord drove off the road into a telephone pole. Police say the car then hit a tree and flipped over, injuring both the driver and the passenger, also a male juvenile. Police have not released the names of the victims. Both are listed in serious condition at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. So far police say speed and the wet roads factored into the collision, which is still under investigation.

Ellicott City Collision Sends Family to Shock Trauma

One woman is in critical condition after a collision on MD Route 100.

A family was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center Monday night after a three-car collision on MD Route 100, according to Howard County Police. The collision occurred at about 7 p.m. near the southbound Long Gate Parkway on-ramp. According to police, a 2005 Toyota Camry was on the ramp, entering MD Route 100 eastbound when the driver lost control, causing the car to spin out into the eastbound lanes.  A 2006 Infinity FX35 was driving eastbound when it struck the Camry, according to police, and then the Infinity was struck by a 2006 Toyota Corrolla. Driving the Camry was 35-year-old Mallikarjuna Kudagunti of Normandy Woods Drive. According to police, he was driving with his wife, Anita Kudagunti, 31, and their two children…
