Police: Wilde Lake High Rape Occurred in Choir Room

Police provided a more detailed outline in court documents of what they said happened at Wilde Lake High School earlier this week.

  The 14-year-old female who accused a fellow student of raping her at Wilde Lake High School told police the incident happened Monday inside a choir room, according to the statement of probable cause filed in court documents. Police said that the school provided evidence that shows the girl and DeShawn Rasheed Jones, 17, entering and leaving the choir room, as well as the 14-year-old taking one of her friends to the restroom after it happened, according to the documents. Jones is currently being held on $500,000 bond, according to court officials. He is being charged as an adult with second-degree rape, second-degree assault and false imprisonment. Howard County Schools to Close Early Friday

Schools will close 1.5 hours early due to possible snow storm Friday afternoon.

All Howard County public schools will close 1.5 hours early Friday due to an expected afternoon snow storm. All aftercare programs, sponsored by the Columbia Association and the Department of Recreation & Parks in Howard County public schools have also been canceled, according to the school system. All school-sponsored and community-sponsored events, including high school athletic practices and games scheduled for this evening, are canceled. Baltimore, Carroll and Montgomery schools are among those that have announced earlier on Friday that they will close schools early Friday. Minor Bus Accident; No Injuries

No one was injured in a Thursday morning bus accident.

A Mt. Hebron High School bus was involved in a minor accident this morning. According to the police, the accident involved bus 426 and was near Worthington Way. No one was injured, and the Mt. Hebron administration and Howard County Public Schools Transportation Office responded to the scene, according to officials at the school.
