What to do if your child is one of the youngest in the class? Forge ahead or hold back a year?
The school year is almost over and it’s difficult for me to believe that my eldest child is finishing up kindergarten. What a year it’s been for her. She has learned an amazing amount in such a short time. I remember sitting in and observing a kindergarten class at her school in May of last year. I thought to myself as I watched those kids confidently run their “morning meeting” that there is no way my then preschooler would be able to do such work in one short year. How mistaken I was. I’m amazed and impressed at the quality and difficulty of the work she is doing in kindergarten. What is interesting is that her kindergarten class has such a range of ages in it. Two kids won’t be 6 until the very end of August. One will turn 7 in July. …
