Weekend Weather: Clear for 2012 Perseid Meteor Shower

But the skies aren't expected to clear up just yet.

The rain isn't going away any time soon, but the skies should clear up when it matters, if you're interested in seeing the weekend's big sky show. According to the National Weather Service, rain is expected to continue through Friday night. Temperatures should hover in the mid-80s during the day and drop to about 70 degrees at night. Saturday there’s a 30 percent chance of rain, according to NWS and skies should remain cloudy most of the day. Temperatures will again reach the mid-80s, dropping to the low 60s at night.  We should see the return of the sun on Sunday, which, if the forecast is accurate, will be a beautiful day. Perseid Meteor Shower 2012 to Light Up the Sky

This weekend's biggest show is in the sky.

Earlier this week, the big news was on Mars as the world watched the Curiosity Mars rover speed through that planet’s thin atmosphere at 13,000 mph, before being lowered down to Red Planet's surface. This weekend, the show is in our very own sky. The Perseid Meteor Shower 2012 hits its stride this weekend, late Saturday night and early Sunday morning. And what stride it will be: according to NASA, expect up to 100 meteors per hour. As an extra bonus, a waning crescent moon means that moonlight won’t completely overwhelm the meteors as they shoot across the sky. Where do you plan to go to watch the Perseids?
