Folly Quarter Named Blue Ribbon School

The middle school is one of just six in the state to earn the national designation.

Folly Quarter Middle School has been named one of six Maryland schools to earn the national Blue Ribbon Schools designation, designated by the State Department of Education for great improvement or consistent high performance.  “Folly Quarter Middle School has an extremely committed staff and a student body intent on rising to academic challenges,” Howard County Public Schools (HCPSS) Superintendent Renee A. Foose said in a statement. The school also recently received a State Progress Index (SPI) of 1.255. The SPI, a new statewide measure of schools progress, measures achievement gaps, student growth and other factors. An SPI value greater than “1” means the school has surpassed its target.    Folly Quarter has earned many commendations …
