Could Charles Daniels' Columbia home be the best “decked” house in the country? Possibly. (Although Bryan Bartlett's is pretty great, too). Daniels' home, which features almost 300,000 lights, was chosen as one of the 24 finalists in Patch's nationwide Deck the House contest. The house is located near the 5000 block of Durham Road East in Columbia. "I've been decorating for at least 13 years," said Daniels, who previously worked as an electrical engineer. "I've been retired for 13 years, so I have the time to put together a very nice Christmas display." Who has the best “decked” house in Ellicott City?  According to users who voted in our annual Deck the House contest, this home, at  4802 Red Hill Way, with its lights sychronised to hit songs and Star Wars scenes has the best holiday lights in Ellicott City and, possibly, in the country. We had tons of national entries in this year’s Deck the House contest and in our quest to find the most over-the-top holiday decorations in the country, we’ve seen everything from a life-size Santa to holiday lights so bright they could blind the neighbors.
