Harris Teeter: Open in Ellicott City

The new, 24-hour grocery store opened Tuesday evening.

Harris Teeter Tuesday opened its third Howard County store in Ellicott City Tuesday evening. The 24-hour grocery store will anchor the new, 108,000 square foot Turf Valley Towne Square shopping development, with other retailers set to follow this month and later in the summer.  The shopping center is part of a planned community, which will eventually have more than 1,800 residential units.  “Towne Square at Turf Valley is an important development in Howard County,” Howard County Economic Development Authority CEO Lawrence Twele said in a statement. “Not only will the residents in the immediate area benefit from it, this growth will also benefit the entire county.”  Slotted to join the 49,000 square foot grocery store in Towne Square are: …

Harris Teeter Opening Soon in Ellicott City

The new grocery also is hosting events during the coming weekends.

Ellicott City’s newest grocery is set to open in two weeks. Harris Teeter at Towne Square in Turf Valley, at 11075 Resort Road, is set to open on April 2 at 5:30 p.m. with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Interested to know who will be running the new, 48,000-square-foot store? Manager Tanner Ellis and other employees will be on hand to meet customers, according to a statement sent out by Harris Teeter spokesperson Catherine Reuhl Becker. “An excellent shopping experience starts in the store with customer service, high-quality perishables along with variety and selection,” Becker wrote.  Throughout the weekend, the store will also host activities, including an on-site “Rancher Mobile Grill” April 12 – 14 and an on-site ice cream truck April 19…

Coming to Ellicott City: Harris Teeter

The supermarket will be opening in April, amidst reports that the North Carolina-based chain is up for sale.

It’s Ellicott City’s turn to elicit jealousy in the supermarket department. Harris Teeter is set to host a grand opening at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, according to Danna Jones, spokesperson for the North Carolina-based chain. The store will announce "grand opening activities," including specials, a week before the opening. The 48,000-square-foot grocery store in the new Turf Valley Towne Square shopping plaza, will have a variety of sustainable features, Jones said, including LED spot lighting throughout. LEDs are more energy and cost-efficient than traditional bulbs. The building at 2700 Turf Valley Road also has a white, reflective roof which will help keep the store cool during the summer months; ultra low-flow urinals and low-flow …

Break-in at Ellicott City Harris Teeter

The store is not yet open, but someone's been in. This information comes from the Howard County Police Department.

Although is not yet open, Howard County Police say items may have been taken from Harris Teeter in Ellicott City. Sometime between Friday, Aug. 24 and Tuesday, Aug. 27, an unknown unmber of suspects cut a lock on two storage trailers at the store's construction site on the 11000 block of Resort Road, according to police. The suspect or suspects stole wire from various telephone poles around the construction site, according to police.

Harris Teeter Coming to Ellicott City

The specialty supermarket will anchor a new development.

  Elkridge has Trader Joe’s. Columbia has Wegmans and, soon, Whole Foods. Now Ellicott City is joining the specialty supermarket game. Harris Teeter will open its doors by early next year, according to Bmore.com.  The website reports that the 48,000 square foot grocer will be the anchor in Ellicott City’s new Town Square at Turf Valley shopping center.  Harris Teeter spokeswoman Danna Jones told Bmore.com that this will be the chain’s 8th store in Maryland and that it will have a staff of 115. Residents slept outside of Wegmans to be the first inside on opening day, June 17 and Whole Foods recently signed a lease at the former Rouse Company headquarters in downtown Columbia.
