UPDATE: 1 Dead After Car Goes Airborne From I-95 To I-195

Police say a 20-year-old Joppa man is dead.

UPDATED (3:12 p.m)—A Harford County man was killed Thursday morning when his car went airborne off Interstate 95 and landed on Interstate 195. According to a news release from Maryland State Police, the crash took place shortly after 7 a.m., when a 2006 Ford Focus struck the left guardrail on northbound I-95. It went airborne, landing in the eastbound lane of I-195, striking a 2002 Chevy Suburban. The cause of the crash was not immediately known, and the incident remains under investigation. Kenneth L. Kirst 3rd, the driver of the Ford, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Kirst, 20, lived on the 200 block of Spry Island Road in Joppa. Police Identify Ellicott City Victim in Fatal Crash

The 51-year-old woman was the sole occupant in the car.

Howard County Police have identified the woman who was killed last week in a single-car crash as Lynn Ann Lubitz, 51. According to a statement released by Cpl. Christopher J. Krieger, Lubitz was driving a 2007 Infinity M35x at about 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, on the 4300 block of Brittany Drive.  While driving westbound, she came to a bend in the road, but continued straight, hitting a mailbox and then colliding head-on with a tree, according to police. Lubitz was taken to Howard County General Hospital where she died from her injuries.  Police said Lubitz, an Ellicott City resident, may have suffered from an undisclosed medical condition, but have not said whether that contributed to the crash.
