A 14-year old girl is accused of enlisting a 19-year old boyfriend to kill her father, Dennis Lane.
Jason Bulmer and Morgan Arnold, the two teens charged with the killing of Arnold's father local blogger Dennis Lane, were indicted by a Howard County grand jury on Wednesday. The indictment means their case will be moved from District Court to Howard County Circuit Court and their preliminary hearings will be rescheduled. Bulmer, 19, and Arnold, 14, both of Ellicott City are being held without bond after being charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy for killing Lane. Police said the teens plotted for over two months to kill Lane and his fiancee Denise Geiger. Go Fishing! The weather Memorial Day weekend is expected to float around the mid-70s, meaning great fishing weather. The Patapsco River in Ellicott City is home mostly to sunfish, smallmouth bass, and rainbow trout, according to the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR). DNR also recommends Centennial Lake on the Columbia/ Ellicott City line, which includes species such as largemouth bass, channel catfish, trout and the rare tiger muskie. DNR reports tiger muskies have been in stocked in the lake since 1995 and there are some now over 36 inches that “provide an explosive fight for anglers who hook into one.” Remember, don’t forget to obtain a fishing license, if you’re older than 16. Opening statements in the trial of an Ellicott City woman accused of killing her quadriplegic husband took place Tuesday at Howard County Circuit Court.
Howard County Assistant State's Attorney Colleen McGuinn told a courtroom during opening statements of the trial of Nancy Fleming Molony, 53, that Molony's husband's life was ended at her hands, according to Wayne Kirwan a spokesperson for the state's attorney's office. McGuinn said that an autoposy revelead nine unabsorbed oxycodone pills in Kevin Patrick Molony's body as well as high levels of oxycodone already absorbed, according to Kirwan. Nancy Molony is charged with second-degree murder, manslaughter and reckless endangerment. Kevin Molony, 51, was seriously injured in a 2007 auto accident that left him quadriplegic. He was being cared for by family members and his wife, according to police. In February of 2011, he was found dead …

A jury was seated on Monday in the trial of an Ellicott City woman who is accused of killing her paraplegic husband in February of 2011. Nancy Fleming Molony, 53, was charged with second-degree murder after a police investigation found that her husband, Kevin Patrick Molony, 51, died from an overdose of oxycodone, a prescription painkiller. Molony was found dead inside his home on the 4000 block of Chariots Flight Way in Ellicott City. Molony was a quadriplegic since a car collision in 2007 and was being cared for by family members and nurses, according to police. Blogger Dennis Lane, whom police say was killed in a plot orchestrated by his 14-year-old daughter, was an involved parent whose goal was to help his daughter be more independent, according to court documents from a 2008 custody case. Morgan Arnold is being held on murder charges along with Jason Bulmer, Arnold's 19-year-old boyfriend, whom police say stabbed Dennis J. Lane to death inside his Ellicott City home on May 10. Lane was Arnold's father. Police said that for two months Arnold and Bulmer had been discussing killing Lane, a well-known blogger and real estate agent. The new Ellicott City restaurant opened in April and the early reviews are good.
In April, Tigi's Ethiopian Restaurant and Market quietly opened in the small shopping center behind the Dunkin' Donuts on Route 40. Since then, it has already gained some traction with positive reviews of its traditional Ethiopian cuisine. "We aren't experts in Ethiopian cuisine, but we loved our dinner," wrote local food blogger HowChow, who ate at the restaurant earlier this month. On Yelp, the new restaurant has 4.5 stars after five reviews. "The food is spectacular," wrote one reviewer, "I eat out a lot, and I haven't had a better or more interesting meal locally in a very long time." Police say there was an altercation near a street vendor in the early morning hours.
A man with a group of friends walking down Main Street was stabbed through his right forearm in an altercation that began with an exchange of insults, according to police. The incident occurred April 21. Patch obtained details from court documents Wednesday. Justin Michael McCabe, 28, of Oella Avenue, was charged with first-degree assault and reckless endangerment in the stabbing of the man. The victim was walking along the 8000 block of Main Street near a hot dog cart with his friends around 1 a.m. on April 21 when a man began verbally harassing them, including using slurs against homosexuals, according to the police report. Michael McKenny pleaded guilty on Tuesday in Howard County Circuit Court.
A Columbia man pleaded guilty Tuesday to secretly videotaping two women inside their Ellicott City condominium and was sentenced to 11 years in prison. Police arrested Michael Stephen McKenny in October of 2012 after investigating a hidden camera found inside a Montgomery Run Road condo in Ellicott City. The investigation began in September when a 29-year-old Ellicott City woman told police she found a hidden camera in her bedroom that was focused on her bathroom. According to charging documents, the camera, which began recording when it detected movement, secretly recorded the 29-year-old and a 30-year-old roommate in their bedrooms and bathrooms. Police determined McKenny first entered the condo on June 26, then returned at least four …

I always find it difficult to pass judgment on tragic situations such as this. Did Mr. Molony lay there day after day begging everyone to help him find a way to end his life? Did he have such a build up of pain medication in his system after four years that his organs could not deal with it any longer?
