78,000 Cast Votes in Howard County By 4 p.m.

Election 2012 officials provide voter turnout numbers since 4 p.m. in Howard County.

By 4 p.m. Tuesday nearly 78,000 Howard County voters had cast a ballot, according to the Howard County Board of Elections, and that was without numbers from several precincts that hadn’t yet reported their totals.  With four hours to go, about 42 percent of registered voters had cast a ballot in Tuesday’s General Election in Howard County.   First update: 10:09 a.m. - Wilde Lake High School - Columbia The line at Wilde Lake High School at about 9:30 a.m. was approximately 20 people long. Chief Election Judge Denise Wright said the polling place had been very busy since 7 a.m. Have photos from Election Day? Post them by clicking on the green button by the photo gallery. "There were people lined  up since 5:15 a.m. and we don't even officially open the doors until 6," said Wright. She said 359 people had voted so far at Wilde Lake.
