Try venturing to downtown Ellicott City, where businesses will be open late, offering discounts, live music and more in Ellicott City’s First Friday promotion, which is held on the first Friday of every month from April through December. Throughout the historic district, expect stores and restaurants to remain open until at least 9 p.m. First Friday was created in July of 2010 when a small group of merchants and restaurant owners in the historic district organized, hoping the event would support independent businesses.
