Report: Teen Pulled from Burning Car Released from Shock Trauma

The 18-year-old remains in critical condition but has been moved to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.

A Sykesville teen pulled from a burning car Friday by a Howard County police officer has been released from Shock Trauma, according to the Howard County Times. Casey Marie Bellofatto, 18, was rescued from the burning car by Cpl. Craig Ream, an 11-year veteran of the Howard County Police Department. Ream was on his way to work on Rt. 97 in Carroll County when he came upon the two-vehicle accident at 3 a.m. on Jan. 11. As previously reported on Patch, Ream crawled under the hood of Bellofatto's burning Toyota Corolla and squeezed himself through a small opening to pull the teenager to safety.
