Since nothing else has worked to prevent them from their life of crime, why not chop off their hands so they can't steal, and pluck out her eyeballs so she can't drive? Obviously, the above isn't the answer, but our current system of justice isn't working. Criminals commit crimes because it is easy-picking for them most of time, with little or no consequence. I think we should make the punishment…   more ›

13-Year-Old Among Those Charged in Serial Howard County Burglaries

One 13-year-old, two 14-year-olds and a 17-year-old are believed to be involved with a string of burglaries that began in November, police said.

Four Columbia teens were charged this week in a string of 16 commercial burglaries at Howard County businesses, including a recent jewelry store burglary in which a neighboring business had its wall sledgehammered to gain entry. Of those charged, one is 13-years-old, two are 14, and one is 17, according to police. Police said the juveniles colluded with Charles Rodriguez, a 24-year-old Columbia man, who was charged with selling their stolen merchandise after one of the incidents. Police said they believe the teens are responsible for a Jan. 22 burglary in which the suspects broke a back window at Concentra Urgent Care on Dobbin Road, then sledgehammered through a wall of the business to enter J&D Jewelry, where they stole an undetermined…

You can't blamed it on parents, these kids are out of control. My 14 yrs old girl sneaked out at nights when I'm asleep. I'm a divorced mom, and also a working mom. The laws need to be toughter on kids. Also it's an epidemic in this country where kids get away with alot of crime because they're young. Law have to be tough on them now instead of later because their crimes will be bigger ones, like…   more ›

I do agree with you Lisa, but I would think our county executive would at least be concerned and look into who set the bail, and what is being done to correct it.   more ›

Yes sadly he is my child's biological father. A mistake made many years ago and I am more sorry for the pain my daughter carriers than my own. I agree with you in regards to mistakes in life as long as there is a lesson learned and changes made. He is well beyond learning any lesson or changing. He is an institutionalized individual who knows nothing more than crime and prison life. It was nice …   more ›
