Emotional support can be as important as medical, and even financial support for all kinds ofRead More conditions. Traditional sources of treatment often largely ignore the mind-body connection during and after treatment to the detriment of the best outcomes.

Worried this will hurt the game? That's become an interesting phrase. But exactly what does itRead More mean? Lower attendance? Less enjoyable for fans? Does any of that trump the safety of the players? Sometimes I can't comprehend the level of egotism and selfishness. It's particularly worrisome in people who work with kids. I love football, but I put the players' welfare before my pleasure.

Let's face it: Football is a violent game. I can't imagine anyone letting their child play such anRead More injury-prone "sport". Sadly, from the trash movies and video games that our kids are weaned on, violence seems to be part of our culture. Too bad.

Only a grate fool wood let they kids eat food from school. make they lunchers youselves. it aintRead More rockem science.
Solange Kincaid June 2, 2014 at 01:45 pm
When did a school lunch become such a primary event in a students' life? A home-served dinner shouldRead More be the primary meal event where the kiddies share daily events and nosh on the freshly prepared healthy foods selected by the nurturing adult in the home. School lunches should provide the kiddies with quick energy and inexpensive staples like mac 'n cheese, fries, chocolate milk, and ice cream. Volunteer in an Arlington public school cafeteria and see for yourself the food that is trashed daily that could probably alleviate the starving masses in India and Nigeria for a day! Kids also feel stigmatized by signing in with a school ID that designates free lunch recipients whereas the other kids produce the cash. School-provided breakfasts also rely on bagels and buns - all prone to add to obesity. Parents who don't take the time to provide breakfast to a kid are worthless.
Charlene Culpepper June 9, 2014 at 04:37 pm
I am 65 yrs old and remember eating in the school cafeteria for many years. The food was so so butRead More it was also a break from the old standby of PB&J or bologna sandwiches that was standard lunch fare in our household. My folks mixed it up but we also paid per day for every lunch we ate at school.. There is no right or wrong way to do this.. Make lunches at school cheaper or better tasting... My grand kids simply don't eat if the cafeteria serves crappy tasting food or if they don't like what I make for them at home.. Ergo, they don't eat anything from 7:30 in the morning when they have breakfast until at least 3:30 in the afternoon when they come home starving... I'm pretty sure most kids are like that since mom and dad are not there to insure that they eat.. Kids will be kids...

We have to make people aware that our State is run by public employee Unions and we need court casesRead More like today which ruled that the California Teacher Tenure rules are unconstitutional so that we can change laws and vote people out of office who do not represent the interests of the public who pay the taxes.

Something that is interesting to note is that high school grads are going to four year universitiesRead More and studying subject that isn't marketable. While on the other hand you have people getting vocational training at vocational schools that essentially guarantees them a job out of school that will make them 'x' amount of money. So it isn't that college degrees are worthless, some are. It is also said that sometimes trade school is the right choice! Howard High needs to do some safety awareness with their students who drive to school. On my dailyRead More commute through the area I constantly see kids making illegal turns and driving recklessly in their attempt to get to school on time. HC police should station a cruiser at route 104 and old Annapolis Rd for a few weeks and start issuing citations. They could eliminate the problem very quickly.

The previous commentators are OVERLOOKING the FACTS stated! No one is saying ALL college girls... weRead More are stating that there ARE BAD APPLES among young college girls. Stop the "all girls are perfect and victims" crap. There are plenty of girls in college (and I knew a few) that are extremely promiscuous and overly, insanely sexual... YES they exist and YES they are looking to start trouble at times for attention via sleeping with multiple guys WILLINGLY then feeling guilty later and claiming rape. Rape has become a word synonymous with the race card nowadays. One says the race card or rape and suddenly someone is labeled for life EVEN when they are found not guilty. The police dropped this case because it was NOT rape.
Maryellen Brady May 7, 2014 at 05:12 pm
The problem is that the universities are making ALL suspect and punishing them for coming forward.Read More The few BAD players, is no excuse for not investigating ALL allegations seriously. RAPE is not something women fake and considering that for so many years DATE RAPE was dismissed as teens gone wild, it is time that society ACT with intent to curb the violence against women. UNIVERSITIES, the military have gotten away far too long with overlooking the truth of the violence one gender imposes on another for ego sake!
You May 7, 2014 at 06:28 pm
@Mary where are your stats that "universities are making ALL suspect and punishing them forRead More coming forward"? What punishments are occurring? The colleges and police are finding the majority of cases ill-founded and false. Where are your REAL stats? You are making assumptions and assumptions are exactly what makes BAD and false facts. I feel it is more like this... there are some seriously promiscuous, highly sexual girls in college (that may be mentally unstable) and when they suddenly feel guilty about giving it up to everyone they shout Rape. Kinda like males that suddenly shoot up a school out of now where. Yelling Rape is an instant action which gains attention from people of power and advocates which throw money and attention to them. The girls who cry wolf are the ones crushing the reality of true rape (which is horrible of course). I am very speculative about how many young girls are just crying wolf for attention after having sex with a male. The Duke case is the perfect example which has occurred over and over the past 15 years and hurts the reality of rape. Girls looking for money and attention after willingly having sex with men in a college world.

Montgomery County is skewed. It buses kids into the "not so nice" schools with theseRead More "magnet" programs they set up to boost up the failing schools. It's smoke and mirrors sometimes.. Does HoCo school ever consider eliminating a teacher in service day or two rather than extending theRead More year. Adding curriculum days during the year MIGHT be more effective than tagging them on at the end. I keep hearing from parents AND staff that students "check out" by the beginning of June. I wonder if we aren't just adding days for the sake of adding rather than with an eye towards productivity.
