Santa to Appear at Multiple Breakfasts: HoCo Weekend Events

Santa breakfasts, classical concerts, and holiday craft sales in the Howard County area this weekend.

Glenelg Country School Holiday Bazaar

12793 Folly Quarter Road, Ellicott City

The event that runs from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. features student service projects, a buffet of international food, handcrafted international crafts, live music and dance performances. Proceeds with benefit Glenelg Country School service projects and provide aid to the victims of the Philippines Typhoon. Admission is $7 for students and $10 for adults.

Ladies Night Out at Supreme Sports Club

7080 Deepage Drive, Columbia

The adults-only event runs from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Supreme Sports Club and includes 25 shopping booths that will sell jewelry, handbags, gift baskets, make-up, kitchen accessories and more. The event hosted by the Columbia Association includes snacks, wine, refreshments and a door prize.

Girls on the Run of Central Maryland 5k

6940 Columbia Gateway Drive, Columbia

Over 900 girls are expected to attend this year's 5k event, which begins at 8:30 a.m. Registration for the run is open until Friday night at 7 p.m. Packets can be picked up at Charm City Run in Clarksville. Towson preschool teacher and Boston Marathon bombing victim Erika Brannock will be on hand for the event and will share her experiences with the runners.

The Maestro's Anniversary

The Jim Rouse Theatre at Wilde Lake High - 5460 Trumpeter Road, Columbia

The Columbia Orchestra celebrates conductor and cellist Jason Love's 15th Anniversary with American music, great cello playing, and the music of Brahms! The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Adult tickets are $25/$20 each, senior tickets are $21/$16 each and full-time student tickets are $12/$10 each. Tickets can be purchased here.

Whoo's for Dinner, Mr. Owl

Benjamin Banneker Park, 300 Oella Ave, Catonsville

Learn about the owls that call Banneker Park home and discover what owls eat by dissecting a pellet. The event begins at 1 p.m., the cost is $5 per child. Advance registration is required and can be done by calling the park at 410-887-1081.

Slayton House Breakfast with Santa

10400 Cross Fox Lane, Columbia

Breakfast seating starts at 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Santa and his elves will be on hand for photos with children. Tickets cost $5 and can be purchased via advance sale only by calling Slayton House at 410-730-3987x17. The event is sponsored by the Wilde Lake Community Association.

Learn Safe Ways for Children to Stay at Home

HCGH Wellness Center - 10710 Charter Drive, Suite 100, Columbia

Children (8–12) and their parents will learn safe, fun ways for children to stay at home alone during this free class session that runs from 9–11 a.m sponsored by Howard County General Hospital. Online advanced registration at www.hcgh.org is advised for all programs.

St. Matthew Christmas Bazaar

7271 Eden Brook Drive, Columbia

The bazaar will have items like small gifts, homemade baked goods, and crafts on sale. Santa will be on hand and a dinner will end the day. Ticekts cost $20 for the dinner only. The bazaar begins at 10:30 a.m.

Howard County Conservancy Natural Holiday Sale

10520 Old Frederick Road, Woodstock

You will find an assortment of unique and locally crafted items for sale including natural holiday decorations from the woods, gardens and local farms and markets.  Items include local pottery, hand crafted soaps and bees wax candles, jewelry, hand crafted accessories, nature and gardening books, nature photography items, kids books and puppets.  All proceeds benefit the Conservancy’s environmental educational programs. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Winter Dance Showcase by One for All Dance Academy

Slayton House - 10400 Cross Fox Lane, Columbia

This dance performance highlights the winter season of One for All Dance Academy. Its short length makes it good for young children. Tickets are $5 for ages 6 and up, $3 for ages 1-5.

OLPH Annual Breakfast with Santa

4795 Ilchester Road, Ellicott City

Our Lady of Pepetual Help Parish will host their annual buffet breakfast starting at 8 a.m. on Sunday. Santa will be on hand and events include craft tables, kids' games and a raffle. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and kids ages 3-12. 

Messiah by Columbia Pro Cantare

Jim Rouse Theatre - 5460 Trumpeter Road, Columbia

This will be the 27th year Columbia Pro Cantare performs Hand'es Messiah. Tickets are $25, $22 at the door. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and will be followed by a reception.
