2 Hearts, 2 Miles Memorial Run; Moonlight Walk: HoCo Weekend Events

Ellicott City Memorial Run

·      Where:  3700 Court House Drive, Ellicott City

·      When:  Saturday, Aug. 17, 8:30 a.m.

·      Description:  This 2 mile run honors the memories of Elizabeth Nass and Rose Mayr who died tragically in the train derailment in August 2012. All proceeds benefit the Elizabeth Nass Scholarship, Howard Hospital Foundation for the Rose Mayr Nursing Scholarship and the Howard County Fire and Rescue Services.

Summer Saturday Nature Series: Moonlight Walk

·      Where:  Banneker Park, Ellicott City

·      When:  Saturday, Aug. 17, 8 p.m.

·      Description:  Families are invited to join the Naturalists for a hike into the forest at night to look for and listen to the nighttime activity.

·      Cost: Please call ahead to register as space is limited.

 Rockburn Open Car Show

·      Where:  Rockburn Branch Park, 6105 Rockburn Branch Road, Elkridge

·      When:  Saturday, Aug. 17, 12 – 4 p.m.

·      Description:  Best of class awards given in the following categories: American Cars, Corvettes, Trucks, Euro Imports and Asian Imports.      

·      Cost: Free

Wounded Warrior Ride and Fundraiser

·      Where:  Woodstock Inn-1415 Woodstock Rd, Woodstock 

·      When:  Saturday, Aug. 17, 9 a.m.

·      Description:  This event is both a guided ride thru the scenic backroads nearby and many bands, raffles, 50/50's and much more.

Annual Family Luau           

·      Where:  7080 Deepage Drive Columbia

·      When:  Friday, Aug. 16, 6 p.m.

·      Description:  Families are invited to come dressed in their favorite Hawaiian attire and enjoy a night of leis, limbo dancing, hula hoop frenzy, arts and crafts and more.

·      Cost:  $10-14 per family

Cystic Fibrosis Fundraiser

·      Where:  5888 Robert Oliver Place, Columbia

·      When:  Saturday, Aug. 17, 3 p.m.

·      Description:  Live music, food, drink specials and more. 

·      Cost: Free to attend – donations appreciated.

Ben's Buddies Summer Nature Programs

·      Where:  Benjamin Banneker Historical Park 300 Oella Ave., Oella

·      When:  Friday, Aug. 16, 1 p.m.

·      Description:  Families are invited to join the Naturalists to find out and see some live examples! Play a game to learn more about biodiversity and then take a walk to see some in the park.

·      Cost: Free
