Wintry Mix Welcomes Thanksgiving: Week Ahead

River Hill makes the state football playoffs, local turkey trot events, and what to expect this week. The Week ahead.

1. Wintry Mix Welcoming Thanksgiving - It's almost Thanksgiving. Three more days. But before we feast, let's make it through this minor storm heading this way. The National Weather Service reports rain, snow and freezing rain on Tuesday morning, with heavy rain falling Tuesday night. A high of 40 and low of 39 is predicted for Tuesday. More rain is expected Wednesday, with possible snow showers at night. High in the mid-40s with a low dropping to 27 Wednesday night.

The system should pass by Thanksgiving, which is expected to be sunny with a high near 36.

2. River Hill Football Rolling - They're at it again in Clarksville. The River Hill High School Hawks dominated Reservoir 28-0 at River Hill on Friday night to win the 3A East regional football championship. The Hawks head to the state semifinals on Friday night to play 3A West champion Linganore (11-1). This will be the eighth time in nine years the Hawks advance to the state tournament.

3. Exercise Before Feasting - There are several ways to burn some calories before putting it them back on this Thanksgiving by participating in a local turkey trot. The run/ walk events on Thursday morning will be held in Ellicott City, Columbia and Clarksville.
