Opportunities to Give in Ellicott City

Here are a few organizations in and round Ellicott City that are collecting goods for those in need this holiday season.

The DugoutZone in Ellicott City is teaming up with the Baltimore Ravens on Nov. 29 to host its second annual food drive to benefit the Maryland Food Bank. Collection barrels will be placed in front of the store on Tuesday, Nov. 29 beginning at 10 a.m. Baltimore Ravens rookie wide receiver Tandon Doss will appear in-store from 6:30 - 7:30 pm. Doss will greet fans and sign autographs for those making a donation of canned or non-perishable boxed food items.

Toys For Tots and U.S. Marines

Toys for Tots and the U.S. Marine Corps are collecting toys once again for area children. You may drop off your toy or cash donation to . In return, you will receive these special discounts:

  • 20 percent off any spa service
  • 10 percent off of one item at the gift shop
  • One free appetizer or dessert at Alexandra's Restaurant

Toys for Tots

Collecting new, unwrapped toys. Toys may be dropped off Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Ellicott City Self Storage, 3470 Ellicott Center Drive. New customers will get the second month free when they bring in a new un-wrapped toy at time of rental.

Touching Lives With Comfort

Collecting Pillow Pets for children who will spend the holidays in a hospital. TLC will also be collecting money towards its Pillow Pets Holidy Drive. Checks can be made out to Touching Lives With Comfort Foundation, Inc. and mailed to 920 Frederick Road, Catonsville, MD 21228.  Designate your donation as Pillow Pets for Pediatrics, unless you want to make a general donation to the foundation to support any of our three programs.

The Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center

Seeking Holiday donations for all age groups. The shelter helps individuals and families in need. For information more information about donations, call 410-531-6006 or email jenny@grassrootscrisis.org

  • Sports teams items (t-shirts, mugs, etc. Can be found at Walmart, Kohls, Target for less than $20)
  • Inexpensive hand-held video games such as Tetris, Simon, Solitaire (Can be found at Walmart and Target for less than $20)
  • DVDs for middle school and high school age (Green Hornet, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Soul Surfer, True Grit, Rango, Up, Transformers, Pirates of Caribbean)
  • Watches
  • Dolls (Cabbage Patch, Dora, Polly Pocket, Barbie)
  • CD Players and CDs for middle and high school age (Beyonce, Justin Bieber, 
  • Katy Perry, Maroon 5, Jonas Brothers, Glee)
  • Hexbug robots, Transformers, Lego Sets, and Action figures such as Captain
  • America, Green Hornet, Power Rangers, Star Wars, Ben 10
  • Personal Hygiene items – Full Size Lotions, Soaps, Body Gels, Cologne
