For Immediate Release

West Friendship, MD - The Maryland National Road Association (MNRA) is pleased to announce the launch of a new resource website that promotes the Maryland Historic National Road corridor – marylandnationalroad.org. The new site, which was funded by a National Scenic Byways grant, is optimized for both desktop and
mobile devices.

The new site provides users with a comprehensive overview of
the Maryland National Road including national, statewide and local history and
resources. Those traveling by RV, motorcycle or Model T can find event
information in all eight Road jurisdictions (Baltimore City, Baltimore County,
Howard County, Carroll County, Frederick County, Washington County, Allegany
County and Garrett County) along with suggested itineraries and tourist
information. The new site also contains helpful driving tips for those
interested in traveling the original alignments, locating mile markers, toll
houses, stone bridges and fifty-seven interpretive panels that tell the story
of the Road.

In addition, useful resources are provided for those interested in preservation efforts and for planning of both residential and commercial development along the historic corridor.  RoadTalk and suggested driving tunes provide the user with a whimsical look at the spirit of driving.

"After months of development with board members and website designer, Octavo Design, we're very excited to unveil the new website. It's always been our mission to increase awareness of the Historic Maryland National Road. Now, with the launch of the website, we're able to make the history and travel opportunities more available to byway travelers. Commerce has always been a major theme and the site promotes the many businesses located on the Road today." said Tiffany Ahalt, Byway Manager.
