Basic Boating Safety Course

This class is required for all Marylanders born after July 1, 1972 in order to operate a registered vessel in Maryland waters.  The course is taught by U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary instructors who are also certified by Maryland Natural Resources Police.  The course covers the legal requirements of boating, safety equipment requirements, boat operation, dealing with emergencies, communication and basic navigation. Class is taught in a series of 4 sessions, Mondays and Wednesdays starting on April 16, April 30, May 14 and June 11.  Participants must register prior to the date of the first class selected.  Ages 12+ (under 16 must be accompanied by parent or guardian).  Provided under partnership between the US Coast Guard Auxiliary and Howard County Recreation and Parks.  Registration and information:  John Galleazzi, 410-336-7734 or FSO-PE@flotilla222.org.
