A local youth baseball team is on a tear through regional and local tournaments amassing a record of 13-0-1 over 14 games this summer.

The Howard County Youth Program 12-and-under all-star team has won back to back invitational tournaments since July 2 and are going for their third straight tournament win Monday night in Linthicum.

The Blue Devils, whose fans chant "code blue" at their games, won the Rockville Baseball Association Greater Washington 4th of July Tournament on June 28-30 with a 5-0 record.

The weekend before, June 22-23, the boys went 4-0-1 to claim the Howard Cup at Western Regional Park, beating the HCYP White team 14-11 in the championship game, according to one of the team's coaches, Joe D'Alonzo.

On Monday night the Blue Devils won the Linthicum Ferndale Youth Athletic Association July 4 Tournament by beating Brooklyn Park 12-0 in a four inning mercy rule-shortened championship game.

Joe D'Alonzo, one of the team's coaches, said the boys practice three times a week and is composed of players who were born on or after May 1, 2000.

"The boys are displaying good sportsmanship and playing great baseball," said D'Alonzo. "Our players are a phenomenal group of young men that are representing HCYP extremely well on and off the diamond.  They listen and are learning new fundamentals  from all of their coaches, especially under the leadership of Manager Craig Crispell."
