All Howard County public schools will open 2 hours late on Friday amid a freezing rain advisory issued by the National Weather Service.
The freezing rain advisory is in effect until noon, after which temperatures are predicted to rise above freezing. The weather service urged caution during the morning commute.
The school system sent a message at 5:15 a.m. Friday announcing the delay, and added, "Morning pre-kindergarten and RECC programs are canceled. All morning programs, sponsored by the Columbia Association and the Department of Recreation & Parks in Howard County public schools, will be delayed 2 hours."
