Howard County Public Schools Make Decision about Tuesday

The Howard County Public School System made the call Tuesday morning.

UPDATED (8:10 a.m.)—All Howard County public schools are closed Tuesday.

Evening activities in schools, both school-sponsored and community-sponsored, are canceled. This includes high school athletic practices and games.

MSA testing originally scheduled for Tuesday is canceled and will take place on March 5, 6, 11 and 12.

HCEA: All 10-month and 11-month employees do not report.

HCEA/ESP: All 12-month ESP employees may report to work up to 90 minutes later than their regular starting time or exercise liberal leave. All 10-month and 11-month ESP employees, except for designated emergency personnel, will not report to work.

AFSCME: Employees may report to work up to one hour late. Employees who report to work on time may leave work up to one hour early. Individuals designated as "emergency employees" are to follow the procedures established by their supervisor.

FOOD/NUTRITION SERVICES: Employees do not report to work.

HCAA: All 12-month administrators may report to work one hour late or request approved leave from the appropriate supervisor. All 11-month administrators and athletics and activities managers do not report.

All public schools in Howard County will open two hours late on Tuesday, the school system announced Monday night. Morning programs will also be delayed by two hours.

Morning prekindergarten/RECC programs are canceled.

"We will reevaluate in the morning," the school system reported. "If a decision is made to close, it will be posted by 7:30 a.m."

Students were slated to take the Maryland School Assessment (MSA) on Tuesday; however, due to the delay, the MSA testing dates will be March 5 and March 6, according to a statement from the Howard County Public School System.
