Redistricting Public Meetings Scheduled in Ellicott City

School system staff will be on hand to receive feedback and detail plans about redistricting in anticipation of a new middle school opening in Elkridge next year.

The Howard County Public School System scheduled two meetings in September to discuss redistricting in anticipation of the new middle school opening in Hanover in August of 2014.

The meetings will provide an opportunity for parents to provide feedback and learn about the plans being considered to redistrict students.

The same presentation will be made at both meetings, which take place in the following locations:

Tuesday, September 10, 7:30 p.m. at the Howard High School Cafeteria (8700 Old Annapolis Road, Ellicott City)

Wednesday, September 11, 7:30 p.m. at the Centennial Lane High School Cafeteria (4300 Centennial Lane, Ellicott City)

According to HCPSS, the new middle school will open within the planned community of Oxford Square in Hanover and is being designed to accommodate 662 students in grades 6 to 8.

Bonnie Branch Middle School, Mayfield Woods Middle School and Elkridge Landing Middle School will likely be affected by redistricting to alleviate overcrowding at those schools, according to a 2013 HCPSS feasibility study.
