Folly Quarter Middle Named Blue Ribbon School

This is the second year in a row the school received the national designation.

There's good news on Tridelphia Road, the U.S. Department of Education named Folly Quarter Middle School as a Blue Ribbon School.

Folly Quarter was one of eleven schools in Maryland named national Blue Ribbon schools and among 286 public and private schools nationwide. It was the only school awarded the national honor in Howard County this year.

"I feel like a proud parent," Principal Rick Wilson said, according to ExploreHoward.com. "This is continued validation for so many people — the students, teachers, parents and staff. It's energizing, it's inspiring. The hard work is truly worth it, and receiving an accolade like this is certainly a nice privilege and honor."

Last year, Folly Quarter was also the only school in the county to be named a Blue Ribbon School.

Schools that rank among the state's highest performing schools on state assessments and schools who show dramatic improvement on state assessments are awarded as a Blue Ribbon School, according to the Department of Education.
