"Cover Girl Culture" Film for Girls and Parents

The Women’s Giving Circle of Howard County and the Howard County Library present the film “Cover Girl Culture: Awakening the Media Generation” on Thursday, March 15, from 7-9 p.m., at the Miller Branch Library, 9421 Frederick Road in Ellicott City.

The “Cover Girl Culture” documentary explores the depiction of women and girls in media and how that influences their perception of themselves. The film showing is designed for middle and high school girls, accompanied by a parent. A group discussion will follow the screening. There is no admission fee, but registration is required at www.hclibrary.org, or call 410-313-1950.

The Women’s Giving Circle is a community of women philanthropists addressing the needs of women and girls in Howard County. Among its activities, WGC has established a scholarship fund at Howard Community College for women who are seeking training to improve their employment options. WGC has also founded a summer residential camp for middle school age girls, Journey, which is being held at Washington College.
