Ellicott City Athlete Talks to Congress About Concussions

Former Centennial soccer player described her concussion and how she's handling her recovery.

We've heard a lot about athletes and concussions in the news. Typically it's about professional football players.

But the Potomac Soccer Wire reports on another sport: Centennial High School soccer player Alison Conca-Cheng testified in front of Congress last month on a Committee on Education and Labor hearing. The Committee was discussing the Protecting Student Athletes from Concussions Act, legislation which would reduce concussions and more safely manage concussions in student athletes.

Conca-Cheng describes the play that led to her concussion and goes into detail about the symptoms she experienced, including her difficulties concentrating; the "care plan" provided by her doctor; and the adjustments she's had to make to keep up in school.
