Your Government Takes a Holiday

But can you get a parking ticket on Memorial Day? Yep.

An announcement from the Howard County Government: Howard County Government offices, courts, animal shelter and the landfill will be closed in observance of the Memorial Day holiday, Monday, May 30.

There will be no trash, recycling or yard waste collection on Monday; instead, based on the county’s “slide” schedule, trash, recycling and yard waste (for those scheduled for yard waste collection) will “slide” to Tuesday, May 31.  Tuesday collections will “slide” to Wednesday; Wednesday collections will “slide” to Thursday, and so on through the remainder of the week.  Howard Transit will not operate on Memorial Day; for more information on Howard Transit, call 1-800-270-9553.

All parking regulations and fees will be in effect.  The 9-1-1 Center, police and fire departments remain staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  For emergencies, call 9-1-1; for non-emergencies, please call 410-313-2200.
