Snow in Saturday's Forecast for Howard County

One to two inches of snow may fall in parts of Howard County on Dec. 29.

Howard County will get another round of snow before the new year begins, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Snow will start falling overnight Friday through late Saturday afternoon in Howard County, according to the NWS forecast.

The National Weather Service issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the Baltimore-Washington area—including Carroll, Howard and Montgomery counties—which is to continue into Saturday.

The Maryland State Highway Administration (MSA) urges drivers to stay off the roads on Saturday morning, adding that the storm could disrupt traffic along the Interstate 95 corridor.

Crews will likely have the roads mostly cleared by the afternoon. "If you must travel, allow extra time, take it slow, and remember: Never pass a snow plow or snow plow train. The safest place to be is behind the plows, which are clearing the roads ahead," the SHA stated in a release.

Drivers should try their best to move disabled vehicles onto the shoulder. They should also keep emergnecy survival kits, including the following, according to the SHA:

• a shovel
• jumper cables
• snacks
• blanket or sleeping bag
• flashlight with extra batteries
• high calorie non-perishable food
• first aid kit
• extra clothes
• bottled water
• a charged cell phone
• kitty litter or other abrasives

For updates on major incidents, delays, estimated travel times and weather conditions, drivers may call 511 or visit md511.org. Check local road conditions online on SHA's interactive CHART map.
