Construction on Ellicott City's Collapsed Stone Wall to Begin Soon

The wall in Parking Lot C has been in disrepair since 2011.

The construction project to repair a collapsed stone wall in Ellicott City's Parking Lot C is expected to begin in April, Howard County Executive Ken Ulman announced this week.

The wall near Mulligan's Hill Lane and St. Paul Street crumbled in September 2011 as a result of Hurricane Lee, crushing several unoccupied vehicles.

The project involved "extensive negotiations," according to a statement from Howard County. Officials said they waited for improvements from the 2012 CSX trail derailment to be completed and consulted with local businesses and St. Paul's Church.

Seventy-five percent of funding for the new wall will come from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Ellicott City Patch previously reported.

Howard County officials said they expect bids in March and construction to commence in April.

The retaining wall repairs should be complete by the fall, Howard County reported.
