Primary Report: First Results

The first results are in from Tuesday's primary races.

Low voter turnout may have been the result of few contested races in Tuesday's primary elections. But there were important contests decided in Howard County:

In the Democratic County Council race, Mary Kay Sigaty beat Alan Klein. She will go on to face Tom D'Asto in the November election.

Democrats Leslie Smith Turner, Sherae McNeal and Anne Dodd will face Charles M. Coles, Jr, Michael P. Frampton, and Joyce C. Pope for judgeships on the Orphans' Court.

Elizabeth Bobo, Dem., will face Republican Robert W. Wheatley to represent Maryland District 12b in the House of Delegates.

Republicans Albert Nalley and Joseph Hooe will face Steven J. DeBoy Sr. and and James E. Malone Jr. to represent Maryland District 12a in the House of Delegates.

Republican Kyle Lorton will run against Democrat James Robey for his Senate seat in the 13th District.

Democrat Byron MacFarlane will face Kay K. Hartleb for the Register of Wills position.

The eight candidates for Board of Education will be: Frank J. Aquino; Robert Ballinger; Sandra French; Leslie Kornreich; Brian Meshkin; David Proudfoot; Cindy Vaillancourt; and Larry Walker.
