Ellicott City Tax Bills, Lost But Not Forgotten

Howard County asks Post Office where missing tax bills went, homeowners not off the hook.

Live in Ellicott City and didn’t get a bill for your county taxes this month?

They’re still due.

Not everyone in the 21042 area code received their second installment notices, sent Dec. 1, and the Howard County Department of Finance wants to know why. According to a statement, the department will request the U.S. Postal Service open an investigation into the missing bills.

In the meantime, the county will mail replacement bills this week to households that still have a balance in the 21042 area code. Payments received by Jan. 31 will not be charged interest or penalties.

All county office, including the Department of Finance, will close at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 23 and reopen Tuesday, Jan. 3. If you have any questions, call the county’s tax customer service number: 410-313-2062.
