Wigged Would-be Bank Robber Leaves Empty-handed

Commercial robbery attempt

Police say a woman wearing a wig approached a teller at the APL Federal Credit Union at 8870 McGaw Road on July 19 at about 3:30 p.m. The woman gave the teller a note demanding money, according to police. When teller told the woman that cash was not kept at that location, the wigged-woman took the note and left the building. She did not show or imply that she had a weapon. Witnesses said they saw the woman get into the passenger side of a dark-colored, older model Honda Accord.

The suspect was described as a black woman, maybe in her early 40s. She was wearing a Bob Marley t-shirt, white jeans, large, brown sunglasses and am auburn-colored wig.

Someone ransacked a home in the 6600 block of Farbell Row on July 19 between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Police say they believe someone entered through an unlocked window and ransacked the home. Two pistols, jewelry and U.S. savings bonds were reported stolen.

Police say someone jumped a patio barrier to a home in the 5200 block of Rivendell on July 19 at about 2:30 p.m. and left through the front door of an apartment. A dirt bike was reported stolen.

A resident returned home to the 5300 block of Columbia Road to find that the door had been opened sometime between July 8 and July 20, according to police. Televisions, a DVD player, two electronic tablets and several pieces of jewelry were reported stolen. 

Someone entered a ground level apartment in the 5400 block of Columbia Road on the night of July 21 or early the next morning, according to police. The burglar entered through a patio door; there were no signs of forced entry. Two electronic tablets, shoes, a video game system and a laptop computer were reported stolen.

Police say someone entered a garage in the 6200 block of Light Point Place between the night of July 19 and the next morning.  Someone entered an unlocked vehicle, but nothing was reported stolen. 

Laurel

A resident in the 10100 block of High Ridge Road heard someone on her porch at about 2 p.m. on July 19. She told police she heard the person try to turn the doorknob. She banged on the door and the burglar left.

The suspect is described as a black man, 30 – 40-years-old wearing an orange vest.

County-wide vehicle thefts/attempted thefts

A blue, 2009 Lexus was stolen from the 9400 block of Canterbury Riding on July 20 at 9:40 .m.

A red, 2006 Acura RSX was stolen from the 9100 block of Bourbon Street on July 20 at 10 p.m. 

A white, 2005 Dodge Caravan with the tags: MD 19350M8 was stolen from the 8100 block of Washington Boulevard overnight on July 18.
