Wednesday Collision in Ellicott City Sends One to Shock Trauma

Interstate 70 was closed for one hour.

A 25-year-old man is at University of Maryland Shock Trauma after a two-vehicle crash in Howard County Wednesday, according to officials at the hospital. Rescue crews say the man was ejected from his vehicle.

The incident occurred at around 2:30 p.m. on the westbound side of Interstate 70, just west of the Baltimore County line, according to state police. Police have not yet released the victim's name.

All lanes on the westbound side of I-70 were closed for about a half hour while a medevac helicopter landed and state police conducted an investigation, according to the Maryland State Highway Authority.

The closure snarled traffic, affecting travel on I-70 and both sides of the beltway, according to the State Highway Administration.  

All lanes were reopened within one hour.
