Trial Postponed for Man Accused of Killing, Burying Wife

The trial has been postponed for a man accused of murdering his wife and burying her under a shed in his backyard.

Jury selection was scheduled to begin Wednesday for Robert Jarrett Jr., who faces a first-degree murder charge in the death of his wife, Christine Jarrett.

In a motion hearing in Circuit Court on Monday, a judge ruled that the remains found entombed in concrete and buried under a shed at the Elkridge home the couple shared could be used as evidence.

Jarrett reported his wife missing in 1991. According to police, Jarret reported that he and his wife were arguing and that she left and didn't return. 

Neighbors told Patch that for 21 years, they suspected that Christine Jarrett was buried in the yard where .

"" one resident said, referring to the tool shed in the Jarretts' backyard.

In court Monday, Judge Richard S. Bernhardt said he expected the trial to last through Dec. 21, but a letter from the Maryland State's Attorney's Office Tuesday said that the trial had been postponed and a new schedule would be established Wednesday.
