Thieves Grab Cash, No Donuts, in Cluster of Dunkin' Donuts Burglaries

Thieves hit three Howard County Dunkin' Donuts locations in the early morning hours of Sunday Sept. 1, according to police.

Locations at the 4800 block of Montgomery Road in Ellicott City; the 8700 block of Centre Park Drive in Columbia; and the 7900 block of Dorsey Run Road in Jessup were all targeted between 1:30 a.m. and 4:57 a.m. Sept. 1, police said.

No arrests have been made, according to police spokeswoman Sherry Llewellyn. Only cash was stolen, she said.

  • In the Ellicott City location, a suspect or suspects removed a cylinder lock from the front door. Inside, they ripped out surveillance cameras and forcibly removed two cash drawers from cash registers, and took cash, police said.
  • In Columbia, a suspect or suspects used a crowbar to break into Dunkin’ Donuts. They also removed security cameras from that location, but did not take anything, police said.
  • At the Jessup location, the suspect or suspects broke in by unscrewing a lock off a side door of the building (which they replaced before leaving), according to police. They also removed a non-operating surveillance camera from inside the shop, where they used a pry bar to break into a locked office, police said. They took cash from a cash drawer, according to reports.
