Howard County police are investigating the Tuesday night shooting of a teenager in Ellicott City.
According to police spokeswoman Sherry Llewellyn, a neighbor found the victim, a 15-year-old male from Baltimore County, in a field on the 11400 block of Frederick Road.
Police would not identify the teenager, who was flown to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center and was listed in "critical but stable" condition as of about 11:15 Tuesday night, Llewellyn said.
Police do not believe that the gunshot was self-inflicted, Llewellyn said.
Detectives from Howard County and other jurisdictions are "investigating the possibility of foul play," Llewellyn said.
