Stranger in the Living Room: Crime Roundup

A woman took a break from her computer to return to a man standing in her living room, according to the Howard County Police.

The woman, who lives on the 2700 block of Thornbrook Road, told police that at about 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, she was in the living room working on her laptop. She went upstairs for about 10 minutes, according to police, and when she came back downstairs there was a strange an standing in her living room.

The woman screamed, ran back upstairs to tell her family, then called 911, according to police, and the man left. She told police that later that evening she realized her purse was missing.

A woman said was walking to her car from the Long Gate Shopping Center Safeway on Thursday at about 10:15 p.m. when a man approached her from behind. According to police, the man tried to grab her wallet, which was tucked under her arm. He didn't get the wallet, police said, and he ran in the direction of the Dancel Family Center Y.

Sometime between Sunday and Wednesday suspected entered a home on the 4900 block of Brampton parkway through an unlocked front door, according to police. Stolen were vehicle keys off of the kitchen counter and money from a wallet on the counter.
