State Trooper's Vehicle Crashes into Tree in Ellicott City (UPDATE)
Officials say the trooper is in critical condition.
A Maryland State Police Trooper is in critical condition after a collision in Ellicott City, according to a Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue spokesperson.
Howard County Police were called to Interstate 70 eastbound between Sandy Hill Road and Maryland Route 32 just after 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, according to police dispatch.
The trooper's car collided with a tree, according to Jackie Cutler, HCDFRS spokesperson; there was no one else in the vehicle and no one else was injured.

A MedEvac helicopter is taking the trooper to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, Cutler said.
Exit 80 off of eastbound I-70 will be closed Wednesday evening for the investigation, Cutler said.
