Riding Lawn Mower Stolen in Ellicott City: Crime Roundup

Ellicott City 

Residential burglary

Someone stole a riding lawn mower from a shed on the 3700 block of Ligon Road late the night of May 9 or early May 10 according to police. The burglar broke locks to get the mower out.

A burglar pried open a detached garage on the 10400 block of Baltimore National Pike sometime between May 8 and May 10, according to police. The burglar tried to push a motorcycle to the door, but was unsuccessful. Nothing else was reported stolen.

Residential Burglary 

Police charged a 24-year-old Laurel woman with burglary and trespassing after a resident of the 10600 block of Green Mountain Circle called to report a burglary in process. The Laurel woman was in the basement sitting on a pool table.

Someone broke a living room window at a home on the 5700 block of Thunder Hill Road on the evening of May 10, according to police. Nothing was reported stolen.

Police don’t now how a burglar gained entry to a home on the 5600 block of Columbia Road on May 5, but electronic items and watches were reported stolen.

Burglary 

Someone entered the press box at Oakland Mills High School sometime between 11 p.m. May 10 and 7 a.m. the next day, according to police. Nothing was reported stolen. 

Elkridge

Construction site burglary

Two houses under construction on the 5900 block of Cypress Springs Road were burglarized around May 6, according to police. In one house, an HVAC cased-coil was broken but nothing was reported stolen. In the other house, copper wire was reported stolen. Police say there were no signs of force in either house. 

Marriottsville

Construction site burglary 

Someone stole a newly installed wiring system from a home under construction on the 2400 block of Walking Janelle Way sometime between 6 p.m. May 10  and 8 a.m. May 13, according to police. There were no signs of forced entry.

Laurel

Commercial burglary

Someone used a tool to pry open a door at Auto Masters on the 1000 block of North Second Street between 8 p.m. May 11 and 9 a.m. May 13, according to police. A vehicle key was stolen, but the car it belonged to was not on the lot. Police say vehicle titles were rummaged through, but none were reported missing.

Robbery

Police say someone was standing in front of his home on the 9000 block of Canterbury Riding on May 11 just before midnight when a man with a gun approached him and demanded money. Police said the victim gave up his money and the robber fled.  The robber is described as a 6-foot-2 black man who weighs about 240 pounds. He was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and may have been wearing jeans.

Jessup 

Commercial burglary

A hole was cut into the chain link fence of Victory Packaging on the 7600 block of Dorsey Run Road sometime between May 11 and May 13 and a vehicle entered. The burglar or burglars stole about 100 gallons of diesel fuel.

Dayton 

Residential burglary attempt

Someone tried to break into a building on the 14000 block of Howard Road by prying a door. A motion detector light bulb was removed, but nothing else was reported stolen.
