Quiet in Ellicott City: Howard County Crime Roundup

Here's a sampling of crimes reported in Ellicott City and around Howard County.

Columbia: Attempted Robbery

A person was walking Sunday afternoon in a parking lot on the 6700 block of Cradlerock Way when a man approached and demanded money.

“The victim refused,” police said, “and several other people joined in with the original suspect to assault the victim.”

The assault ended after witnesses broke up the fighting, police said.

Nothing was reported stolen from the victim, who did suffer a minor cut, police said.

The attempted robbery happened at about 2:46 p.m. on May 1.

Columbia: Burglary

Two laptops, a wallet and cash were stolen from a home on the 6200 block of Deep River Canyon. The residence was also ransacked. The suspect or suspects got inside after forcing open a front door. The burglary happened sometime between 1:20 p.m. and 2:15 p.m. on

Columbia: Break-in

It was not known what was stolen following a break-in at a home on the 8400 block of Gold Sunset Way. There was no sign of forced entry. The break-in was reported at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, April 29. No other information was available.

Columbia, Elkridge: Vehicle thefts

Columbia: A light blue 2011 Ford Edge was stolen from the 5200 block of Paul Revere Ride. It was reported stolen at 7:37 a.m. on Friday, April 29.

Columbia: A teal 2009 Chevrolet Malibu with Maryland license plate 4FBG71 was stolen from the 9400 block of Clocktower Lane. It was reported stolen at 7:58 a.m. on Sunday, May 1.

Elkridge: A 12-foot-long white Ford van was stolen from the 6700 block of Washington Boulevard. It was reported stolen at 8:13 p.m. on Sunday, May 1.
