Police: Two Arrested 30 Minutes after Columbia Bank Robbery

The two men were arrested in a wooded area behind River Meadows Drive about an hour after the robbery was reported.

Police have arrested two men after a PNC Bank on Little Patuxent Parkway was robbed Saturday morning.

Howard County Police said one man entered the bank in the 10400 block of Little Patuxent around 9:50 a.m., displayed a handgun and demanded money, which employees provided. The suspect then fled with a second man, who police said acted as a lookout.

No one was injured in the robbery.

Police then saturated the area around the bank, and arrested two men in a wooded area behind River Meadows Drive around 10:20 a.m.

Calvin Abney, 23, of Oxen Hill and Richard Abney, 28, of Capitol Heights were charged with armed robbery, robbery, multiple counts of assault, theft, and a handgun violation. They are both being held at the Howard County Detention Center on $750,000 bond, according to police.

The bank robbery is the second this month in Howard County. Police reported a man wearing a knit hat covering his face robbed a PNC Bank at 4392 Montgomery Road on Dec. 23. Police released an image of the suspect holding a handgun with a Christmas tree behind him inside the bank.

Police said they have not made any arrests in that robbery, but are continuing to investigate.
