Police: Shot Fired, Customer, Clerk Robbed on Christmas Eve (UPDATE)

Police say at least one shot was fired during a robbery.

Police say at least one shot was fired during a Christmas Eve robbery at an Ellicott City convenience store.

According to police, a man walked into the the 7-Eleven on the 4800 block of Montgomery Road at about 1 a.m. on Dec. 24 with a handgun and demanded money from a customer and an employee.

The two handed over the money, according to police. At some point, according to police spokesperson Mary Phelan, "At least one shot was fired during the robbery inside the store."

Phalen said no one was injured and the shot "Did not appear to be fired at anyone directly."

Police describe the robber as a black man in his mid-20s. He had an average build and was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with a dark shirt underneath, dark gloves, dark pants and dark shoes.
