Police Searching for Suspect in Columbia Double Stabbing

An Ellicott City man and a Baltimore man are in serious condition after a brawl in Columbia.

Two men are in serious condition after an ongoing dispute led to a stabbing early this morning in Columbia, according to police.

According to Howard County police spokeswoman Elizabeth Schroen, based on the preliminary investigation, police believe Brandon Charles Kostinsky, 19, of Ellicott City, had an ongoing dispute with a man who he went to fight in the Phelps Luck area of Columbia.

Police say Kostinsky left with several people, and the man he went to fight also brought several people with him.

When police responded to the 5300 block of Phelps Luck Drive, they found that Kostinsky and Wayland Moore, 20, of Baltimore, had both been stabbed.  Kostinsky was stabbed several times in his lower body and Moore was stabbed in the torso.

Both men were taken to the University of Maryland’s Shock Trauma Center just after midnight. Both remain in serious condition.

Police are investigating and trying to identify the suspect who stabbed Kostinsky and Moore. He is described as a 20- to 23-year-old man, between 5 feet 8 inches and 6 feet tall, with short, blond hair.

Anyone with information about the stabbings is asked to call police at 410-313-STOP. Calls may be made anonymously.
