Police Say Keychain with Address Led Burglar to Home: Crime Roundup

Residential burglary

A burglar broke into a home on the 14900 block of Old Frederick Road sometime between late night May 6 and noon on May 8, according to police. The burglar pried open a window and stole cash, according to police.

A homeowner returned home to the 17300 block of Old Frederick Road on May 7 at about 5 p.m. and saw someone had gained entry to the house through a window. The house had been ransacked, according to police,  but nothing was stolen. 

 

Columbia 

Residential burglary

A resident of the 7500 block of Broken Staff reported her Apple MacBook was stolen on April 26 between 1 and 5:30 p.m. According to police, there was no sign of forced entry.

Police say a resident of the 5400 block of Columbia Road lost his keys sometime between April 27 and May 2. His keychain had his address and phone number on it. On May 2, the resident found his keys on the floor of his home, just inside the front door. He reported several items missing, including cameras, purses, jewelry and a laptop.

The alarm was sounding when a resident returned home to the 10900 block of Trotting Ridge Way on May 6 at about 5:30 p.m., according to police. The resident noted that the side door was open, but nothing was missing and there were no signs of forced entry.

The lock on a window of a home on the 3000 block of Cloudland Court was broken sometime between May 6 and May 8 according to police. A sliding door was also found open, but nothing was reported missing in the home.

A resident of the 9600 block of Basket Ring Road heard someone kicking her bedroom window at about 11 p.m. on May 6, according to police. Then she saw the two people running away.
