Police Officer Released from Hospital after Sunday Morning Collision

The officer's vehicle was struck head-on early Sunday morning.

Update - Police said Monday morning that Officer Byung Moon was released from the hospital and is recovering at his home following a head-on collision while on duty Sunday morning.

Police have not said whether the driver who collided with Moon will be charged.

Original Report - Sunday - 10 p.m.

A Howard County police officer was injured in a head-on collision on Washington Blvd. early Sunday morning in Elkridge.

The officer is expected to survive, according to an Associated Press report.

The officer, Byung Moon, was driving a police cruiser around 3:45 a.m. when a car driven by Ruben Guillen, of Elkridge, crossed the center line and struck the officer's vehicle head-on, the AP reports.

Both men were taken to Shock Trauma with non-life threatening injuries, according to a Baltimore Sun report.
